LeeAgra, Inc. manufactures agricultural and farm equipment built to last, no shortcuts. That standard traces back to the company's founder, who lived by a simple code: Do the best job you can every day. It's carried the LeeAgra name across the agriculture, oil, and construction industries for more than 75 years.
The company holds its phone system to that same bar. When its old provider started holding the staff back from doing their work effectively, LeeAgra went looking for a service built with the same reliability in mind. We caught up with Terrence Brown, LeeAgra's Systems Administrator, to learn why the West Texas manufacturer moved onto OnSIP's hosted VoIP platform and how the built-in Odoo integration became part of the staff's daily workflow.
Built to Last: A West Texas Company Since 1949
LeeAgra traces its history back to 1949, when Dick Lee—fresh out of the Navy—bought a small blacksmith shop in Idalou, Texas, and built a reputation repairing farm equipment for local growers. His son, Sonny, later joined him, and the two grew the business into Dick and Son Welding. Over the years, it was rebranded as West Texas Lee. “The company developed iconic products such as the Three‑Point Quick Hitch, the Lady Bug sprayer, and Spider SprayTrac,” Terrence explains. “LeeAgra survived a 2009 fire and Sonny’s injury and was taken over by Lynn Lee, who renamed it LeeAgra and introduced modern diesel sprayers like the LEE Predator in 2021.”
Today, LeeAgra manufactures high-clearance sprayers, diesel fuel tanks and trailers, and quick-hitch systems for the agricultural, oil, and construction industries. Their products are designed and built in Texas and sold worldwide. The majority of the team works out of its home base in Lubbock, Texas, but two employees (including Terrence himself) work remotely.
Outgrowing an Inflexible Phone Service
Before OnSIP, LeeAgra used a well-known business phone service that Terrence says didn't offer much room to work with. "It was not as flexible to register phones," he says. "You had to either use the apps or have a physical phone." The provider also had no integration with LeeAgra's Odoo ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system, a gap that would turn out to matter greatly.
Choosing OnSIP Hosted VoIP, Odoo-Ready from Day One
LeeAgra found OnSIP through Odoo itself. "The OnSIP service is built into Odoo," Terrence describes. "After further research, we found that the pop-up screens for incoming calls were invaluable to our operation. Our receptionist can see who is calling and interact with their account immediately, all while still on the phone." The combination of a phone system that works together with their Odoo applications made the decision easy for them. LeeAgra has been running on OnSIP since 2023.
Flexible Call Routing and a Team-Wide Call Group
Since making the switch to our VoIP platform, LeeAgra relies on a few OnSIP call features to connect customers with the right person, without barriers or friction. Highly customizable call routing gives callers a direct path to whoever they need to reach. Terrence also points to the auto attendant as a way to provide support to callers even when the office is empty. "It really helps keep customers routed to either the right staff member or the right voicemail so their concerns can be addressed even while the office is vacant."
The team's favorite, though, is OnSIP's call group feature. He mentions that "Everyone loves the operator group. We can all take turns being the receptionist and answer calls with a live person. Customers appreciate that the most. They want to talk to someone." And for the company’s staff, the OnSIP mobile app is another standout feature: "It's the perfect way to check messages and call history."
Answering Calls within the Odoo Application Dashboard
The Odoo VoIP integration with OnSIP is central to how LeeAgra's customer-facing staff works day to day. Rather than juggling a separate phone app, employees find a built-in softphone directly inside the Odoo dashboard—no fumbling between browser tabs or managing a separate login. Incoming calls trigger automatic contact matching, popping up the caller's account on screen (details, order history, and all) before anyone even says ‘hello’.
For a manufacturer fielding calls from farmers, vendors, and industry customers across the country, that head start matters. The receptionist can confirm an order status or pull up a caller’s account history mid-call instead of putting them on hold to dig through records, turning a routine call into a faster, better-informed conversation. And because the integration lives inside the same Odoo environment LeeAgra already uses to run its business, there's no extra service for staff to learn or maintain, just one dashboard doing double duty as phone and ERP.
Reliable Support to Match Reliable Equipment
OnSIP's customer support earns some of Terrence's strongest praise:
"The OnSIP support team is the best in the world. They answer my calls right away and respond to my questions with expert knowledge. They even know advanced techniques to make sure our system is designed exactly to our needs."
After a few years administering and using the OnSIP VoIP service, Terrence's read on the value is straightforward: "It is difficult to believe that a service that runs this well can be this cost effective. Thanks, OnSIP!"
From a West Texas blacksmith shop to a manufacturer selling equipment worldwide, LeeAgra has spent the better part of a century building products their customers can count on. OnSIP is glad to carry that same standard of reliability into their communications, one call at a time.
