The Best Business VoIP Phones for 2016 [Feature List]

by Kevin Malcolm

OnSIP's Phone Review team has put together their list of the Best Business VoIP Phones for 2016.

Published: December 29, 2015

A new year means a new fleet of improved Business VoIP phones and a handful of newly discontinued models. Whether you have new additions to your team or you never followed through on your resolution to upgrade your phones, we're here to help with our picks for "Best Business VoIP Phones for 2016".

There are a number of factors that go into the evaluation of these phones, such as sound quality, ease of use, features and (of course) price. We've brought several Business VoIP phones into our lab for testing and we're confident in their performance with our network, as well as any other VoIP network that accepts SIP phones.

Here, I'll be highlighting one phone from each "tier". The full comparison document is available for download here.

Entry Level: Polycom VVX 101

Polycom VVX 101 Business VoIP Phone

Polycom has always been a recommended brand for us, as they've become somewhat of a gold standard for sound quality. While this bare bones model cuts costs by stripping the phone of typical VVX features (both functional and cosmetic), it maintains the ease of use and build quality we've come to expect from Polycom devices.

From our in-depth review:

The sound quality is, quite simply, superb. SIP to SIP calling over G722 sounds fabulous.
...
When it comes to entry level phones, the Polycom VVX 101 is at the top of its class. The biggest drawback is basically the price. It's over $20 more than the Cortelco C56, and about $30 higher than Grandstream's entry level phone. But you get what you pay for.

Mid Level: Yealink SIP-T42G

Yealink T42G Business VoIP Phone

The Chinese company Yealink has produced some popular high-quality phones in past years, including the T22 and T28 from our previous "Best Business VoIP Phones" lists. The T42G leads this years' selections in number of lines or accounts it can handle at 12. While that may be overkill for your needs, it's an impressive metric, followed up with HD Voice, PoE and Headset support, and everything else should expect from a roughly $120 phone.

Yealink is also one of the brands that qualifies for our $300 phone promotion. If you purchase 5 or more new phones from the brands we recommend, we'll add $300 of calling credit to your OnSIP account - greatly subsidizing your purchase. See the promotion page for more details.

Executive Level: Grandstream GXV3275

Grandstream GXV3275 Business VoIP Phone

Grandstream's latest video phone blurs the line between desk phones and smart phones. The GXV3275 runs on a modified version of the Android mobile operating system and has access to the Google Play store, allowing you to install 3rd party apps.

Its 7" TFT LCD touchscreen makes it a good fit for video calls, as well. We use this model in our New York office to collaborate with our engineers in Colorado and Boston, MA. You can read through our thorough review here.

While the GXV3275 is certainly unique and works well for some of our needs, we'd probably recommend our other picks for instances where audio quality is the top priority. Be sure to download the full "Best Business VoIP Phones for 2016" list through the button below.
