We are happy to announce that OnSIP will be hosting our first 24 hour CodeDay Hackathon in conjunction with Student RND, starting tomorrow at noon and ending at noon on Sunday. The event is an educational opportunity for high school students of all skill levels who are interested in getting hands on experience with programming. OnSIP will host the event simultaneously with other CodeDay Hackathons in Washington D.C., Iowa, Austin, Kansas City, and Denver.

The CodeDay will culminate with students programming and demonstrating a unique project that uses the skills they've learned at throughout the Hackathon. During the CodeDay, OnSIP engineers will take students through the basics of JavaScript/WebRTC development, demonstrating how projects such as GetOnSIP and InstaCall are able to work entirely in-browser.

The idea behind the Hackathon is to invigorate the students' passion for programming by encouraging them to produce a creative project within a set timeframe. The CodeDay will also introduce the students to new technological innovations that have not been incorporated into standard high school syllabi. This will allow students to realize their own programming potentials while immersing themselves in the latest web technologies.

"I am happy to help organize the Codeday NYC hackathon with StudentRND," said Brand Evangelist Bryan Wade. "It's Seattle based organization that runs Hackathons across the country. I'm from Seattle, and I was involved in the Seattle tech community, and StudentRND has personally helped me become a better programmer when they hosted awesome events that were both fun and practical."
