NYC Telephony Hacker Meetup & Friday Funny

by Nicole Hayward

Attention Telephony Hackers in NYC! There's a meetup on Monday—come meet us!

Published: January 25, 2013

We heard that Voxeo, a communications company that helps customers integrate, deploy and manage custom contact center applications, is seeking a barista for their Orlando office. As a business communications company also amped up on open standards and caffeine, we believe it is important to help fulfill this role. We know just the person for the job.

Name

John Riordan, CTO of OnSIP

Experience

  • CTO of VoIP Company (5 years)
  • CTO of ISP (5 years)
  • No professional barista experience, but makes a good cappuccino with above-amateur foam art and has experience with the Voxeo coffee equipment (see images below from Voxeo's Partner Summit 2011 )

Attend the NYC Telephony Hacker's Meetup this Monday, January 28th. John Riordan and Engineer Will Mitchell will be presenting along with Tim Panton of Phono, Voxeo Labs.

Monday, January 28th, 7:00 pm NYC Telephony Hackers Description

Tim Panton - head of Phono's development team - will be Skyping in and joining us virtually from the UK. Phono is a simple jQuery plugin and JavaScript library out of Voxeo Labs that turns any web browser into a phone capable of making phone calls and sending instant messages. Phono can also be used to connect to SIP clients.

Also, Will Mitchell - a software engineer from OnSIP - will be joining us to discuss OnSIP's XMPP and REST APIs. Will is also the lead developer behind OnSIP's new Osprey.js API which provides a JS wrapper for Jitsi-based softphones in the browser.

Yes, this has been a round-about invitation, but stay tuned for more blogging on the event! Oh and, happy Friday!
