VON Update

by Mike Oeth

Here's a recap of the VON trade show in Boston last month.

Published: November 27, 2007

It has been a busy month since the 2007 Fall VON trade show in Boston. We met a number of interesting companies and talked extensively to the press. It was a good show and we were glad to see such activity. Overall, we saw a lot of new VoIP handset hardware and some interesting VoIP applications.

Interesting Companies

First, an update on the interesting companies we met. Top of the list is Truphone. Truphone allows you have Internet phone calls (SIP calls) delivered to your cell phone. They are currently in beta and mostly focused on Europe in general and the UK in specific. However, this technology means that an OnSIP Hosted PBX customer could have extension to extension dialing on their cell phone. We have tested the service and it works flawlessly. We will keep you updated. Polycom introduced their recently purchased Spectralink Wi-Fi phones. We are looking forward to getting some in-house and into the lab to take a look.

Good Press

Lastly, we met with some press and bloggers. We launched our new interface for our OnSIP Hosted PBX and the new tag line "The Home of the 10 Minute PBX." The reception was very positive and we have landed some great coverage in the last month. One of the best so far was in VoIP-News. All in all it was time well spent.
