2016 Product Roadmap: Hello OnSIP App, Goodbye My.OnSIP

by Jenny Liang

We'd like to share some exciting updates on the OnSIP product roadmap, including phasing out my.OnSIP and introducing new features to the OnSIP app.

Published: June 24, 2016

In March we released the OnSIP app, a free unified communications browser app that acts as a business-grade phone on the go. Last month, we unveiled our updated CPaaS site for developers. With all these new developments, we wanted to give our customers a broader look at where we’re headed.

The Big Picture

At OnSIP, our mission is provide a powerfully simple cloud calling platform that helps modern organizations collaborate with each other and connect with customers while saving time and money.

"Today, modern businesses have many choices regarding the real-time communications applications and hardware they use," says Nicole Hayward, OnSIP CMO. "Now more than ever, the apps and devices that 'win' are user-oriented. They are simple. They subtract manual labor. They are delightful. We're taking that to heart with the OnSIP app."

The OnSIP app now allows our customers to make calls, manage voicemail, monitor queue activity, video call, add contacts, click to dial, and much more — all in one interface. Soon, it will also allow customers to message each other. If you're wondering why you might still need my.OnSIP, the answer is: You won't.

Moving on from my.OnSIP

We would like to inform our customers that we will be phasing out my.OnSIP later this summer, when my.OnSIP’s key capabilities will be available in the OnSIP app.

Goodbye my.OnSIP

We encourage all of our customers who currently use my.OnSIP to try out the OnSIP app. It is a complete replacement for your office deskphone, and will soon have all the call management features available in my.OnSIP. Stay tuned for an official date announcement, after which my.OnSIP will no longer be available for OnSIP users.

“We’re taking the best of my.OnSIP and updating it to fit in a more comprehensive, modern platform.” - Alicia Knight, UX Designer

Moving ahead with the OnSIP app

Since the launch of the OnSIP app in March, we’ve added several new features to complete our webphone offering, including drag-and-drop call transfers and three-way conferencing.

There are also two new tabs on the OnSIP app menu: Recent Calls and Voicemail. Recent Calls gives users a log of their call history dating back to 2015, with the date, time, duration, and to/from details. The Voicemail tab allows users to view each of their voicemail messages, upload a custom voicemail greeting, and manage their voicemail settings and notifications. We also updated the Settings tab so users can upload a profile picture, select their notification preferences, view their account information, and more.

In the coming months, we will be releasing a messaging feature and an integration for Slack users to chat in the OnSIP app. (Please note that the new messaging feature in the OnSIP app will not be compatible with Adium and other XMPP-based programs that are currently compatible with my.OnSIP.) We are also working on an easier signup and login process for OnSIP users to access the app.

Moving forward

We’re very excited about these developments, and we hope you are too! If you have any questions about the OnSIP product roadmap or have feedback on our new features, please contact us at marketing@onsip.com.
