IAX Connecivity Issue Comments: 3

We are currently tracking an issue with our IAX (PSTN Gateway) server. Currently no IAX traffic is going in or out of the network. Engineers have been dispatched to examine the servers. We expect the service to be restored by 5pm EST today (Sunday July 25.)

The issue has been resolved. A power failure in the co-location facility caused both our IAX server and our monitoring servers to fail. The power issue will be addressed in our next maintenance window.


One IAX server?

I'm surprised that you only have one IAX server in one location (apparently without a UPS). How many SIP servers do you have? Are they in various locations?

iax.jnctn.net is a proxy that sits in front of 20+ different gateways. All of the servers are on UPS and backed up by a diesel generator. The issue was a last-meter issue with the power for iax.jnctn.net. If there was going to be a longer outage we would have moved the DNS to another box, but as it was, it was quickest to resolve the power issue.
