The Channel Partners Zone: What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas

The Channel Partners Conference & Expo is coming up next week, and OnSIP will be there! We have a few team members going, including OnSIP Director of Sales, Tim Cleves, and Channel Manager, Andy Ogg. We are particularly excited for Tim’s participation in the Channel Partners Zone, an event that, as Channel Partners themselves wrote in the description, “is definitely not what you see on the Channel Partners website.”

The Channel Partners Zone (CPZ) is an informal and interactive discussion (audience participation is encouraged) focusing on the hottest topics in the channel, and has been held at the conference since its debut at the Fall 2011 Expo. The first few CPZs were invite-only discussions, which allowed for conversations that were free-flowing, unscripted, and at times, controversial. Here are a couple of video recaps of past CPZs:

The inaugural Channel Partners Zone

Channel Partners Zone- Spring 2012

For this month’s show at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, Channel Partners has decided to host the CPZ on the main stage, and open it up to everyone attending the show. In fact, it is appropriately subtitled “Going Big on the Main Stage”....what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, right?

We decided to throw Tim into the CPZ at this month’s show- but don’t worry, Tim is more than up for the challenge, and will definitely be able to handle any controversial comments that get thrown his way. He’ll no doubt make a few waves himself!

“It's a bit like learning to swim by getting thrown into the deep end, but I'm excited," said Tim about his on-stage debut in the CPZ. "I pledge to let no irreverent channel question go unanswered— or at least receive a suitably sarcastic side comment— let no heckler be un-heckled back, and make sure my glass is always full.”

While the kind of uncensored conversation encouraged in the CPZ certainly has a high degree of shock value to it, it is sure to be an informative session where both commentators and the audience alike will be able to cut through all of the red tape and get down to the truth of current topics in the channel. The commentators on the panel are CEOs and Directors, and so they will bring their extensive knowledge and experience to the conversation.

  • Michael Bremmer - CEO, Teleconquoates.com
  • Dave Gilbert - CEO, Simple Signal
  • Rebecca Rosen - President, Sales Enabled
  • Larry Walsh - CEO and Chief Analyst, The 2112 Group and Channelnomics
  • Art Wittmann - Content Director, Channel Partners

Topics that may come up for discussion include Agent-VAR partnerships, cloud commissions, the recent Net Neutrality ruling, master agency/distributor models, mergers, etc.

The CPZ is going to be a highlight of this year’s Channel Partners Conference, and we encourage you to stop by if you’re going to the Expo. You’ll learn much and have a few laughs at the same time. And if you’re not going to the show, we’ll follow up with pictures and a recording of the event once we receive it.
