OnSIP's Communications Platform as a Service - CPaaS - is a geographically scaled, robust SIP platform we've built from the ground up, designed especially for organizations that want to deploy their own SIP services but don’t want to build their own infrastructure. Its hosted architecture is a strength; network redundancy across geographically distributed servers ensures uptime while direct peering relationships with tier 1 service providers allow for the quickest call routing and a minimization of jitter, latency, and packet loss. In the overall tech industry, cloud computing continues to rise, and a new set of studies have predicted significant growth for the sector.

A new study from 451 Market Monitor predicts that cloud computing could be a $20 billion dollar market by 2016. “Cloud Computing 2013 Overview Report” highlights the revenue projections of 309 cloud service providers and technology vendors. Research shows that these revenues will be compounded by roughly 30 percent each year for the next three years.

The report predicts that the Platform as a Service (PaaS) layer – which currently accounts for 24% of the total public cloud revenue - will experience the fastest growth rates, with a projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 41%. The Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud segment, which currently accounts for over half the public cloud market share, will experience a CAGR of 37% through 2016.

The report highlights that 78% of market revenue comes from publicly traded companies. These public companies accounted for 23% of the cloud suppliers market. Of this group, twelve suppliers generated more than $75 million, 25% generated $5-$50 million, with a majority of the companies generating under $5 million.

The report highlights the trend of cloud computing’s increasing profitability. Other studies have already documented the trend. Find the study here.
